Caragh Precision partnership with Ekast Manufacturing

Through its partnership with Ekast Manufacturing Caragh Precision can now offer aluminium casting capabilities to it clients. This vertical integration allows for low cost, high volume manufacture of aluminium components to a finished machined and coated state.





Caragh Precision presents at Operational Excellence Development workshop

Over 60 medical technology companies recently participated in a business excellence seminar developed by the Irish Medical Devices Association (IMDA) and hosted by Boston Scientific, Galway. The seminar was developed specifically to share best practices in research and development among industry leaders.

Pictured at the event were (Left to Right) IMDA senior executive Sinead Keogh, Boston Scientific global Vice President of process development Darragh Colgan, Abbott Diagnostics technical project leader Rakhi Baj and Caragh Precision Innovation and Commercial Director Richard Gribbons.

Caragh Precision presented a case study on process and product development from the perspective of a service provider.





Caragh Precision introduces new cleanroom suite

We are pleased to announce the introduction of our new cleanroom suite and automated cleaning/passivation process. The cleanroom suite consists of a class 7 main room for product assembly and final manufacturing adjoining gown room. while the cleaning room is class 8 classification and houses our automated cleaning and passivation system.

This is a multi stage process with individual passivation tanks for different materials. It is a fully automated system offering both nitric and citric passivation. The process will be validated with the option for individual product validations if necessary.

50km cycle raises €3,250 for the stroke service

A 50km sponsored cycle, over a route from Galway to Loughrea, has raised €3,250 for the stroke service at St. James’s. The event was organised by Patricia Kenny, a former patient of the stroke unit, and her husband, Eddie. Nine cyclists took part, including Eddie himself and several of his colleagues from Caragh Precision.

Caragh Precision introduce new ‘MemoryCut’ technology

At Caragh Precision we continually strive to develop new technologies which enable our customers develop exciting and novel products. We are delighted to introduce our new "MemoryCut" technology for the processing of shape memory alloys, such as Nitinol.

We have developed capabilities in milling, turning, wire EDM and other processes, to produce components and devices from this unique and challenging material which opens the doors to many applications in areas such as orthopaedics, minimally invasive surgery, ophthalmic surgery and others.

Our Innovation Centre has been shortlisted for the annual Irish Medical Device Association (IMDA) awards in the "Skills and Knowledge" category. These awards recognise excellence in different disciplines in the Irish Medical Device industry.

Caragh Precision has been certified by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour & Welfare, which will allow us to produce and ship non-sterile medical devices to the Japanese market. "This accreditation is further confirmation of the quality of the products we produce and the strength and robustness of our quality systems."

Caragh Precision Exhibiting at MedinIreland 2010

Caragh Precision will be exhibiting at MedinIreland 2010 on October 20th in Dublin. This event is a national showcase for the indigenous medical device sector in Ireland, with services ranging from product design, precision machining, injection moulding, packaging, sterilisation and others.

Attendees invited by Caragh will get an opportunity to meet these companies in Dublin, followed by site visits to Caragh Precision’s facilities in Galway. All travel and accommodation costs are sponsored by Enterprise Ireland for qualifying attendees.

Caragh Precision’s Greener Approach

We have recently commissioned an independent energy audit and are now pleased to announce we are officially a “Green” engineering facility. Results of this audit show that Caragh Precision is 44% more efficient in its energy usage per meter2 than the average industrial standard as defined by the ECOG018 (Energy Efficiency in Buildings and Sites).
